Online first: The Danish media system is troubled, but can be saved

A look at Danish media industry shows severe structural issues ahead, write Stig Hjarvard and Aske Kammer in a new online first article of the journal Media, Culture & Society. The focus of the article is on two recent changes: the paywalling of news websites and the revision of the government subsidy model.

All is not lost, the authors note. Political will to uphold the democratic corporatist media model is still strong in Denmark, and the model’s survivability seems robust.
