The changing, global media business landscape

The international conference titled “Media Business Landscapes” will go live on Thursday. The two-day event is organized by and at the Catholic University of Lisbon, Portugal. It’s a part of a larger research project focused on Portuguese speaking media on both sides of the southern Atlantic. The conference, however, features speakers and topics from all around the world.

The conference is mainly single-track, with the exception of two parallel sessions on Thursday. Most sessions are of at least partial relevance to journalism scholars, but the first session beyond the plenary is dedicated to the topic. Speakers include mostly academics, but also state officials and industry representatives.

Keynote speeches will be delivered by James Curran, of Goldsmiths, University of London; Isabel Ferin Cunha, of University of Coimbra; and Afonso de Albuquerque, of Federal Fluminense University.
