Journalism Research News, created by professor Turo Uskali and other researchers at the Department of Language and Communication Studies at the University of Jyväskylä, has been up and running since November 2014.
From time to time, we’ve had the opportunity to make some changes to our website. Over the years, we added some sections, such as job advertisements and call-for-papers announcement. During the last years, we’ve had to focus on our core task: providing updates on new research papers in the field of journalism studies. For 2025, we got a small grant from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences here at JYU to renew our website.
Now the new version of the site is up and running! We really hope you enjoy it while browsing for latest research.
New monthly newsletter available – subscribe now
For many years, we had a weekly newsletter sent to our most committed readers. This service has been unavailable for some years now. Along with this development project, we have now created a new newsletter.
The newsletter comes out at the start of each month. It gathers all the new articles and research lists from our website. It has no advertisements or other additional bloat, so you can quickly see what is new, and read articles that are of interest to you.
Subscribe here for the Journalism Research news monthly newsletter.
What has changed
The content of site remains the same, but we updated the user interface, which was already quite outdated. Here are the main improvements made during this fall:
- cleaner and better user interface
- better readibility for articles (column and text size)
- removing unused sections of content
- better interface for mobile devices
- better search feature on the top menu
Deveploment team
The new interface was drafted and designed by project researcher Pasi Ikonen, along with comments from our small, but committed team. The main technical development was done by software developer Jari Tuikka, our long-lasting partner in creating this service. Many thanks to Jari for the awesome work! During the autumn, Tuikka and Ikonen made final adjustments for the site, which is now ready for you to use.
