CFP: Constructing constructive journalism

The conference Constructed|Constructive Journalism is now open for submission proposals. The event itself will take place at Brussels, Belgium on the 8th and 9th of December 2016. The conference is organized by the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and hosted by the Academy of Flanders.

The conference considers two different meanings of the word “construct”: that of social construction, and of being helpful. How does journalism construct reality, and how can it be constructive to it, the organizers ask. Possible topics include, among others, the psychological effects of news frames and representations of minorities.

Paper proposals must be submitted by the end of June, and accepted authors are notified by the 15th of August.

The full call for papers is available at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel’s website.
