The Italian journalism studies journal Problemi dell’Informazione is calling for paper abstracts for its upcoming themed issue on platforms, algorithms and formats. The issue is scheduled for publication in late 2018, and it accepts papers in either English or Italian.

The issue’s core question is “whether and how digital platforms are modifying the online news media ecosystem and the professional reality”? The editors have provided the following a (non-exhaustive) list of potential topics:

• Editorial role and responsibility of the platforms: critical analysis
• New information formats and platform journalism
• Social responsibility of algorithms, the use of data for targeting and the power of online platforms
• News production and news dissemination through social media platforms: critical perspective on disinformation and misinformation

Abstract submissions must be made by March 15, and full papers are due by the end of May.
