Online first: A bourdieuan look at local news

Locality, in terms of both creation and consumption of local news, can fundamentally be seen as habitus as described by sociologist Pierre Bourdieu. This argument is furthered by the authors of a fresh article of the journal Journalism Studies, Kristy Hess and Lisa Waller. This definition suggests the obvious: true locality can only be achieved through a solid local presence over time.
