Here at JRN we write and publish news regarding journalism research. Our geographical scope is the whole world, as long as the research is written in English. Our service is free, and strives to steer clear of any unabashed advocacy.
We have been asked about how do we select our stories, and what sources do we follow. Here are some answers to these inquiries.
What is JRN’s definition of ‘journalism research’? We try to include anything journalism related, from audience surveys to critical discourse analyses. We do not limit our scope to academic publishing, and we include investigations carried out by NGO’s, business enterprises and governmental bodies.

Various other sources
On top of these, we also follow a few scholarly databases, various mailing lists, book publishers, institutional websites, and hundreds of Twitter accounts from academics. If we miss something, we hope someone lets us know right away.
Within the limits of our scope and means, we make attempts to be as inclusive, timely and open as possible, writing about new research, publishing calls for papers and job announcements. Whenever we can, we also do video interviews with journalism researchers.
Tell us about your research
We invite all journalism scholars to join our efforts, and publish more news about your current works. If you have a new book out, a project starting, one just finished or other news of interest to other scholars, tell us about it. We will be delighted to know about you!
You can also write to our Trends section covering new themes related to journalism and research practices.
