CFP: Local news in dire straits

The conference “Is no local news bad news? Local journalism and its future” is now looking for contribution proposals. The event will take place in Toronto, Canada, on the 3rd and 4th of June 2017.

The event welcomes journalists, scholars, policy makers and citizens alike. It invites contributions on such topics as:

  • the role of digital, social and citizen journalism in the provision of local journalism
  • public broadcasters as providers of local news
  • ethnic media and local news

The event organisers invite four types of contributions: research papers, panels, “lightning talks”, and electronic posters. Proposals for all contribution types are due on January 5th. Acceptees will be notified by February 1st.

The full call for papers was sent to an ECREA mailing list, and is available online from the list’s archive.
