About us
Journalism Research News is a news site about the latest academic knowledge in journalism. It improves the quality of scholarly communication about ongoing research.
JRN is operated at the Department of Language and Communication Studies, University of Jyväskylä.
We have a monthly newsletter sent out at the start of each month. It covers everything we have published during the last 30 days. Subscribe here to keep yourself easily updated on new research.
You can also follow us on Facebook, X and LinkedIn, if you prefer these social media channels.
Background
The starting point for developing JRN was the notion that no one knew exactly what was going on in journalism research. Many opportunities for cooperation were missed. Newsrooms and practicing journalists were not benefitting from research. Communicating our work regurlarly and effectively could improve this. We started our website in Jyväskylä in 2015 with a European scope. We have now expanded, and aim at creating a real-time news stream of journalism research around the world.
Tell us about your work!
For us to know about any proceeding in the field, someone has to speak up. We follow multiple channels alongside academic publications, such as social media accounts of researchers. Still, we cannot catch everything that is happening in the field.
We therefore invite all journalism scholars to join our efforts, and publish more news about your current works. We will be delighted to know about you!
