News organisations large and small are experimenting with a wide variety of distributed content models, media and communications consultant Kevin Anderson writes in a recent Reuters Institute report. The document is based on interviews with representatives of different organisations across the world.

Anderson’s sample consists of both large legacy newsrooms, such as the New York Times, and small startups, like the Turkish 140journos. What is common to them, is that they are looking for new formats and multiple new delivery platforms for their journalism. The report provides descriptive case studies of these experiments in push notifications, chatbots, and virtual reality.

The report Beyond the article is freely available on the Reuters Institute website.
