The Guardian has three digital editions: Guardian UK, Guardian US and the newest Guardian Australia. In addition to gathering news from around the world, the Guardian’s journalists report in to the different news hubs and create particular stories for their niche audiences in all three countries.
The working paper by Colleen Murrell analyses ‘Editor’s Picks’ from the three platforms to show how much the Guardian is promoting new, distinctive, locally created content versus how much it draws on material written by journalists from the other editions.
The paper called The Guardian: Game of Editions is published by Media@LSE, London School of Economics and Political Science and is part of MEDIA@LSE Working Paper Series. It is available here.
