CFP | 15.7. | Opportunities and threats in algorithmic news

A conference on “Algorithms, automation, and news” is calling for paper proposals. The conference will take place on the 22nd and 23rd of May 2018 in Munich, Germany. The conference is free of charge, and accepted papers are considered for a special issue of the journal Digital Journalism, or an edited book.

The organisers ask: What are the implications of increasing automation for…

  • human labor and journalistic authority?
  • concerns around news quality, transparency, and accountability?
  • notions of who (or what) does journalism?
  • how news moves among various publics (or not)?

Abstract submissions are due on July 15th 2017, and conference papers will be selected by “mid-August”. Full papers must be delivered by February 15th 2018.

Further information on the event is available at the conference website.
