A workshop on “Hate speech as political communication: Global uses and abuses” is calling for paper proposals. The workshop will be hosted by the University of London on the 31st of May 2018.
The event is interested in hate speech beyond the West. The conveners have provided a (non-exhaustive) list of suggested topics, which includes:
- Hate speech and freedom of expression
- Media regulation, law and hate speech
- Hate speech as a form of media practice
- Hate speech and theories of political communication
Paper abstracts should be submitted by the end of March, and acceptees will be notified by April 14.
