A conference entitled “Pathologies and dysfunctions of democracy in the media context” is calling for paper proposals. The conference is organised and hosted by the University of Beira Interior in Covilhã, Portugal, on the 26th and 27th of October 2017. Accepted papers will be published in two conference proceedings books.
The conference is interested in mediated political communication and its contemporary problems for democracy. The event carries three sub-themes, under which contributions should fall under:
- Communication and silences: concealment, alternative facts and “fake news”
- The challenges of political participation in the “post-truth”
- Pathologies and dysfunctions of democracy: scandal, corruption and negative campaign
Paper abstracts are due by the end of April, and acceptees will be notified by the end of June. Completed papers must by submitted by the conference date.
