CFP | 10.2. | Media and networks “from below”

The Italian Society of Science and Technology Studies is now accepting paper proposals for its upcoming conference, entitled “Technoscience from below”. The event will take place between the 14th and 16th of June in Padova, Italy.

The conference is divided into five thematic streams and further into 26 separate tracks. For journalism scholars the track “Media and networks from below: amateurs, users, and marginal groups” (track 19) should be of especial interest. Proposed topics for this track include:

  • Networks of amateurs and the emergence of radio, television, and digital media
  • Hobbyists’ networks, politics, and propaganda
  • Whistleblowing, programmers, and journalistic networks
  • The geography of networks from below on local, national, and transnational scale

Abstracts should be submitted by February 10, and acceptees will be notified by March 10.
