A symposium entitled “Digital Media, Political Polarization and Challenges to Democracy” is calling for paper proposals. The event is organised by the Austrian Academy of Sciences, the Alpen-Adria University, and the University of York. The symposium will take place on the 21st and 22nd of September 2017 in Vienna, Austria.
The event departs from the worrying notion that trust in democratic institutions is declining, while political polarization is on the rise. How has media contributed to these developments, and could it be used to alleviate these issues? The organisers call for answers to these questions in 20-minute presentations.
Deadline for proposals is on the 7th of April, and notifications of acceptance will be sent on the 28th.
Further information on the event is available on the Austrian Academy of Sciences web page.
