How do digital media innovators approach news, how do they operate and with what strategies, asks a new book by Lucy Küng of University of Oxford. The book, titled Innovators in Digital News, will be published in July.
Traditional news organisations are struggling with digitalisation and technology transitions. At the same time, a small batch of organisations are surviving, even thriving with digital news.
Küng writes about the shifting of journalism to these digital survivors (such as Vice and Buzzfeed), about native advertising, about key players in the digital news industry and – above all – innovation in digital journalism.
The book is based on extensive first-hand research inside the organisations.
