ARTICLE: Story selection influences at the BBC

New study by W. Joe Watson, of Baker University, explores the influences on story selection at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). To conduct interviews the writer spent one week in at BBC World Headquarters in London.

Through interviews with BBC employees across all levels, observation of the daily newsroom operation, and attending editorial meetings study identifies three primary influences that guide the editorial process: a focus on the audience, awareness of the program, and respect for the Royal Charter.
