Veterans’ newspapers offered a consistent narrative to diverse veteran organizations that has also endured to later journalism. A new study by Sally Carlton of the University of Western Australia studies France’s war veteran papers following the First World War.
Five key veterans’ organizations were studied. The article describes the narrative produced and ponders why this narrative has also been appropriated by veteran-journalists of later wars.
The article was recently published in Journalism Studies and is available online (public abstract).
